Description
The rim of this Hasami-ware series is ingeniously designed to combine both Japanese and Western tableware tastes. The height of the rim has been carefully calculated to catch soups, such as stews and curries, and not get in the way when using a knife and fork. In order to pursue a design that can be used for any menu item that appears on the dining table, the range of sizes is designed to accommodate over 300 menu items.
Two colours are available: white, with a bluish tinge characteristic of Hasami-ware, and earth grey, made from clay with iron powder. The earth grey in particular is a design that takes environmental issues into consideration by using iron powder, which would otherwise be subject to disposal, as an expression. This design has helped to reduce the amount of waste disposal from the usual 10% to 4%.
