Description
This is a series of posters featuring the 24 solar terms of the traditional calendar. "Shōkan" (Minor Cold) marks the season when the cold intensifies, indicating the beginning of the coldest period. It is the start of the harsh winter season. The time for sending winter greetings also falls within this period.
The illustration depicts the "Shimizu Atataka wo Fukum" (Warmth in the Water Springs) from the 72 micro-seasons. Despite the cold air, the water in the frozen springs underground starts to thaw and slowly begins to move towards spring. The abstract illustration captures the image of water slowly melting and spreading in the cold ground.
